February 17, 2010 HYNES, Dorothy (nee Keough) - Passed peacefully away on February 17, 2010, Dorothy Hynes of New Westminister, BC, formerly of Calvert, Newfoundland. Predeceased by her parents Aiden and Philomena; twin sister Marie; infant siblings Patricia and Adrian; sister Anne Marie and brother-in-law Terry Condon; father and mother-in-law Ernest and Stella Hynes and brother-in-law Peter Quinn. Left to mourn with cherished memories are her loving and devoted family: husband, Loyola, son Craig (Brenda) and daughter Karen. Missing Nanny are her precious grandsons Stephen, Kellen, Shea and Roane. Also feeling a great loss are her sisters Sheila Sullivan (Gerard), Michelle Sullivan (Jimmy), Carol Sullivan (Craig); brother Kevin Keough (Lois) and two special aunts Helen Clowe and Marie Sullivan. Dorothy will also be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Sylvia Walsh (Allie), Florence Walsh (Junior), Sheila Quinn and Edwina Hynes; brother-in-law Clarence Hynes (Patsy); many nephews and nieces and a large circle of other relatives and friends. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place on Tuesday, February 23rd. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life at Columbia-Bowell Chapel on Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 AM. At a later date, Dorothy's family will bring her to her final resting place in Calvert, the place she dearly loved and always called home. Elizabeth Ann (Elsie) Power Passed on: March 21st, 2012 Passed peacefully away at St Clare's Hospital on March 21, 2012, Elizabeth Ann Power (Elsie), of Brigus South, aged 81 years. Predeceased by her husband Jim (1999) and her son Ray (2000), brothers Aiden, Kevin and Junior Keough and sister Katherine Sullivan and Sister Adrian Keough. Leaving to mourn two daughters: Viola (Doug Hennessey), Ottawa, Bev (Fred Lake), Kilbride; three sons- Graham (Joan), St John's, Wally (Liz) Goulds, and Jim (Trina), Goulds; eleven grandchildren: Richard, Mandy and Fred Lake, Michael, Nicholas and Heather Power, Katie and Mark Power, Breena, Emma and James Power and one great-grandchild Max Power. She also leaves her sisters: Marie Sullivan and Anna Condon (Pat) and sister-in-law Anna Keough, extended family Sharon and Matthew Chafe, relatives, her many, many friends over the years and her family at St. Luke's who lovingly cared for her the last 4 years. Elsie was born to Jim and Maggie Keough of Calvert on June 23, 1930 and was raised and lived in Calvert until she met her husband Jim Power of Brigus South. They moved to Kilbride and raised their family there, while she worked as a nursing assistant with the Children's Home, Exon House and Hoyles-Escasoni caring for children and adults. They retired to Brigus South in 1989. Elsie was a very caring and happy person who loved her game of bingo, cards and cooking. Elsie was known to hop in her car with her family aboard and end up travelling across the island or out of the province on a moment's notice. Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Visitation Thursday, March 22nd from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Details regarding Funeral Mass to follow. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
