General:
A schoolteacher from Long Island NY Met Leonard on an ocean liner when returning home. Married him two weeks or so later.

They were married at least as early as 1925 as they travelled back from England to Newfoundland as man and wife on the SS NEWFOUNDLAND that year.

Buzz Gardiner posted this on an Ancestry.com in 2007 so he was still working on the problems of his wife's parentage at that time. I corrected the spelling of the Stauderman family name based on this posting:
Hi
I too have lumps from banging my head on the Stauderman Wall.
My wife was the adopted daughter of Leonard Carman Mews of St. John's Nfld and Elizabeth Stauderman of New York. They met aboard a Furness Withy Liner returning from England, via St. John's; Halifax: Boston and New York and after a few trips to New York Len and Elizabeth married., living in St John's Nfld As they were both late in life they adopted a baby girl Gertrude Louise. (Notice the Stauderman name similarities)
I met Gert in Montreal where she was in training as a nurse and so did not get to know her parents too well. A few year after we married Elizabeth came down with Altimers and was difficult to talk to.
I was not interested in genealogy until after I lost Gert and subsequently had a rough time with the Studermans until I made a connection with Millie, since gone to her reward. It was just at that time my computer blew up, burning a hole in the desk and all my records; I have spent a couple of years reassembling everything. Now it is the Stauderman's turn.
In the last week I have downloaded every Stauderman reference I can find (about 150 people) and am presently trying to tie them together in families. I still have to find a family connection for Elizabeth and am hoping the Ellis Island records will help as her sister was on that ship with her.
The following has not been checked and comes from birth, marriage, death, census and other similar records. Was just put together in the last couple of days.
Philip Staudermann
Married Katherine Zahn
Rose M Staudermann
Married Herman Knabe of Germany May 7, 1900
Gertrude Stauderman born Wendelsheim Germany
Married Lorenz Kilian May 10, 1892
John L. Stauderman b 1861
Married Irene Isabella Ganz Nov 23, 1902
Charles Stauderman b 1894
Gertuide Stauderman b b abt 1896
Scharlotte Stauderman b abt 1904
This is exactly as the records show spelling and all. I think from the above John L must have been married twice. Remember it is completely unchecked.
Lets keep in touch as I think we will be able to help each other.
The reason I have taken so long to get to this family is we met Gert's Birth Parents and so I have two sets of parents for her. I am sure the adoption was arranged as they had been following Gert 's activities all her life. . When she graduated from the Royal Victoria School of Nursing her graduation picture was in Knotmans Studios window, a short half block from where they lived. They sent her a beautiful diamond pendant and we both went to return it and formed a lasting friendship One of our daughters treasures the pendant.
