This looks very suspiciously like an error: a woman whose maiden name is Dempsey marrying a man with the same Christian and Surname as her father - Thomas Dempsey. Yet it is so recorded in Jane Leahy's family tree file. Should verify this.

I can confirm this now from information garnered from Ancestry.com. As if this coincidence is not enough, it turns out the fathers of both Thomas and Irma had the same Christian name -- Thomas!
