Jill Marshall's transription of the Congregational Church records in the Newfoundland Ancestor this month give a birth and baptism of a Mary Ann Duder attributed to these two parents in 1848. I had already a Mary Ann born in 1854, so it would appear that there were two daughters by this name and the first died and the second took her name.

Stan was the only son left home at the time of his father's drowning and had the unenviable task to standing vigil at Ocean Pond for three days until the body was recovered. He wrote letters to his brother Frank to advise him of the death and they kept up a correspondence for a while afterwards though evidently they had not been in regular communications for a while previous. These letters are all found in MG 728 at The Rooms
140817:
In "The Best Small-boat Seamen in the Navy", David and Ean Parsons book, this is recorded about him: "Duder, Stanley Carter - Masters Certificate before 1914; 2/11/14 enters RNR [Royal Naval Reserve, not the Royal Newfoundland Regiment; they both used the same abbreviation, occasionally leading to confusion as to a person's war service] as Temp. Sub. Lt.; 23/2/15 - HMS WHITBY CASTLE - to Gallipoli in March and April, 1915 - see Chapter 6; 21/10/16 - HMS ALSATIAN - Mentioned in Dispatches. 2/11/16 - Promoted Temp. Lt, RNR; 24/11/17 - HMS CARBON; 14/10/18 - HMS VENERABLE; 4/19 - demob."
In the body of the text they again mentions Duder in the chapter on Gallipoli:
Stanley Duder was an officer on HMS WHITBY ABBEY, an 1800-ton ship that sailed between Hull and Holland before the war and was requisitioned by the Navy in 1914.
Excerpt of letter Duder wrote home shortly after the April 25, 1915 landings:
Last Sunday was a pretty busy day when we first landed our troops. It is not pleasant the first time being under fire. We were used as a troop landing ship, carrying men from the big ships close to shore and landing them in boats from different warships. The fire was murderous from the Turks but we soon got a footing on shore. There were two men in a boat alongside us shot dead.
We haze had a hot time before us when we started to sweep the Dardanelles. We got all sorts of jobs. Taking the wounded from the shore to our ship and putting them on hoard a hospital ship. I was in charge of one of these boats. I was going ashore for the last time when there was a shell pitched not 10 yards from us. One hit the ship but did not do any damage, only dented the plate a little.
On Sunday the day of the first landings, the sights were awful. I have had quite enough of it, but I am afraid that we shall have a lot of danger to face yet. It will be a long time as the Turks are hard fighters. War is awful, one does not realize what it is like until they have seen it. (Lt. Duder was Mentioned in Dispatches for his actions that day.)

Lt Stanley Duder described the following light-hearted event in a 1929 article in the Veteran Magazine:
While on HMS WHITBY ABBEY, carrying troops to the beaches and the wounded to the hospital ships, I saw what I thought was a submarine straight ahead. Full speed ahead to ram it. It turned out to be a dead mule floating in the water. After we hit it, one needed a gas mask to go on deck.
He was "Mentioned in Dispatches" (MID) in October 1916 while serving on the HMS ALSATIAN. 3099
