Information found on Kirby website, originally from Jen K. Fischer:
They had been apprenticed to a lawyer in Newton Abbott, run away to sea, evidently landed in Newfoundland. He gave up the sea and went into business in Carbonear. His partner swindled him and he was made lighthouse keeper at Cape Pine on the southeast coast of Newfoundland, where he died.

Hugh added this in reference to the old painting or charcoal sketch in the gold frame in the Media Gallery:
"Grandfather Henry Hearder, Here is the father of Jane Cole Hearder. Great Grannie LeMessurier has written to Great Aunt Marg, "Grandfather Henry Hearder, Therefore -your Great Grandfather (our great great great grandfather) Destined to be a lawyer, but ran away to sea -and became a Captain , lived for many years in Carbonear.

Hugh Peck has this to say about the photo in the Media Gallery:
Great grannie has written, " Uncle Henry Hearder, your Grandmother Campbells eldest brother. Lived in Boston, where he died. He left a nice bit of money - divided between us." So this is the brother to Jane Cole Hearder.

To be honest, I don't know how this person fits in my family tree. I placed him there and must have had a reason. The photograph of him with Jack Le Messurier is presumably a clue. It came from Hugh Peck and I could ask him the connection. I no longer have access to his MyFamily family tree. I have deduced that he is a brother of Capt. Henry Hearder because of their apparent ages but this may not be correct. For now this is how it remains until I find the time and interest to check it out further.
