McCOUBREY, Irene Mervil (nee Cole) At the Saanich Peninsula Hospital on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, Irene gave up her valiant struggle with Parkinson's and cancer at the age of 83. Born in Spuzzum, B.C., on August 12, 1923 she moved to Victoria at the age of 7 and lived here all her life. After graduating from Victoria High School she worked at the TD Bank on Douglas St. and later worked as office manager for the architectural firm of Siddall, Dennis Warner. She was a founding member of the Westcan Sams RV Club and acted as treasurer for many years. A creative seamstress, Irene was beautiful and talented. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bill, and together they travelled extensively. Also survived by "two nephews and her sister-in-law, Shirley Cole. At Irene's request there will be no service. Donation in her memory can be made if desired to the Cancer Research or Heart & Stroke Foundations. 385275

Greatgreatgreat grannie Judith Cole, Great grannie LeMessurier has written to her daughter Margaret Campbell LeMessurier Noel, "Grandmother Judith Cole married her cousin Henry Hearder, died when I was 10 months old, about eighty-four years ago. (1864c) According to all accounts she was a dear old lady." This is Jane Cole Hearder's mother, and Margaret Jane grandmother.
