General:

220108: On the 1871 Census he is recorded as the head of a household on Duke St. in St. Saviour Parish, a widower once again, with sons John, Michael and William Woolcott, all ironmongers in his business. 20 years earlier they are all living together also on Duke St. with John Senior's second wife Mary (?) but Michael is shown as a master mariner and William as a draper. Apparently the iron monger business must have been profitable to entice the two other boys to give up their first careers.

While there is insufficient evidence to conclude that this Luke family is from the same line as Mary Foale Luke in my ancestral line, there being from the same town at about the same time is strong circumstantial evidence. I am keeping the information in the file but not connecte to the family tree pending clarification.
