"August 4th

Hi Chris, Thanks for the input from Jamie. I had hoped that she might have of heard of the Mullanphys/Melampys, but given when they came to the US, it isn?t surprising that she hadn?t. I know there were still Mullanphys there, but any connection with the Quinlisks may have been lost when Annie Quinlisk Mullanphy and James and sons came to the US in abt 1851. Wish I could scan things for you, but maybe next month. In the meantime, I can type them in this letter. This is the info in the document that I received from the Family History Centre in Nenagh. Anne and James were married in the Catholic church, and their children were baptized in the church, so being ?catholic? is a given. Also, when they came to the US, they were members of a catholic parish in Warren Co. Ohio. Data as follows:

I think that John and William may have died as infants in Ireland as there is no record of them in the US. Also, they named their last son,?William? (b. 8/1858).

I would assume that the Quinlisks mentioned here as sponsors would have been born from 1824 on, if they needed to be 18 to be sponsors, butmaybe then they didn?t ??

Do any of the names of Quinlisk sponsors as a group mean anything? Iassume they may be Anne?s siblings, in-laws or cousins??

I don?t know if Jamie already has the information that I just acquired, or not, but if you/she don?t have it and would like to, I?ll be happy to send it to you. It includes the following: Marriage Query - John Quinlisk and Bridget Howe, !888, (her name appears as ?Howe?, ?Haugh?, ?Hough? - most often as ?Haugh? in records I have.

Almost forgot. In the address I found for Pat Hough, one of the placenames as I wrote it is ?Kinkenny?. Would Jamie know if that is correct?The county is Carlow.

This is my descendant tree for James and Anne Quinlisk Melampy. I have data not yet included - again maybe this winter. There are a coupleof things that may be confusing. James and Anne had 4 children in Ireland - I have their birth certificates. They were Patrick, John, Michael and William. As 2, John & William, were never identified in the US,I assume they may have died either before their journey or in transit. The youngest child of J&A was William(2), born in the US in 1858. There were evidently 2 Williams. J&A plus children came over in I think1851. William(1) was born in 1850. I've thought maybe he died in Ireland as an infant. Margaret, their only daughter was my g-grandmother.Margaret was the name of one of Anne's sisters. 'Mullanphy' was the spelling in Ireland of my Melampy family. I don't know why, but the earliest records here show the name spelled Melampy. One family spelled the name MeLampy, so his descendants continue to spell it that way. There are tons of Melampys and a myriad of other spellings in the US. I have at least 100 other Melampy names I haven't entered, and all my data and resources are in one of 3 boxes in hiding!

James Mullanphy was my g-g-grandfather; Michael was his brother. James and Anne immigrated to the US in 1851, my understanding thru the port of New Orleans. I, too, had found James and Michael in Griffith's and asked PJ about it. PJ told me that 40 acres of the current Quinlisk farms, I think Sean's, were original Quinlisk land, then another owner, then Mullanphy's andfinally back to Quinlisks.

One of the births in the file you attached, Patrick, son of James andAnne was my g-g-uncle. Their other sons were born after the record period. Jane
