Note that there is conflicting evidence on this person regarding his date and place of birth. I had him born in Bay Bulls ca 1821 solely based on a family tree on FamilySearch that I failed to properly identify at the time.
But Bernard Kanagah's (of Kingston, ON) Ancestry family tree shows that he was born in Mosquito, near Harbour Grace, in 1807 and he has a vital record attached that confirms this so I am going to make this change provisional upon further investigation.
It is possible that there were two men named Edward Prior and one or the other of these family trees picked the wrong one.

Bernie Kavanagh directed me to a newspaper resource online, th Digital Egyptian Gazette ( https://dig-eg-gaz.github.io/post/17-analysis-meixner/ ) which used as an example of the kinds of marriages found in the pages of this newspaper the announcement of the intended marriage between William H. E. Quintana and Mary Prior thus:
"The marriage arranged between Miss Mary Prior and Mr. William H. E. Quintana will take place at St. Catherine's Cathedral Alexandria, on Monday, 24th inst., at 2 p.m."
UNfortunately they did not indicate in what edition or what year or month this announcement appeared. Alt. Marriage: Cir 1905, Alexandria, Al Iskandariyah, Egypt. 020722:

This is from the Egyptian Gazette dated April 26, 1905:
QUINTANA-PRIOR.
The marriage of Mr. William H. Quintana, third son of Mr. J. Quintana, late British Consul and Eastern Telegraph Superintendent at Chio, Turkey, to Miss Mary Louisa Prior, only daughter of the late Commander R. T. Prior, took place at St. Catherine's Cathedral, Alexandria, on Monday last [i.e. April 24, 1905] at 2 p.m. The bride, who was given away by her brother, wore a handsome gown of white satin trimmed with mousseline de soie and real lice. Her court train was of satin and mousseline de soie, and her wreath of orange blossoms was arranged over her long embroidered tulle veil. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. F. R. Acheson, as best man. The principal bridesmaid was Miss Mabel Lamb, who looked very pretty in a beautiful robe of pale pink chiffon silk. She wore a white chiffon hat trimmed with white ostrich plumes and ospreys and carried a bouquet of pink and white roes. The two little bridesmaids who acted as train-bearers were the Misses Lily and May Ablitt. They both looked very sweet in white accordian-pleated silk frocks, and white picture hats of chiffon. The bride's mother looked charming in a mauve silk gown and mauve hat to match, and carried a lovely bouquet of red and white roses.
After the ceremony at the church the guests were invited to a reception held by Mrs. Prior at the New Khedivial Hotel. The newly-married couple left shortly after 4 o'clock for the Beau-Rivage Hotel, Ramleh, where they are staying until their departure for Liverpool to-day by the 8.8. "Anatolia." Witnesses: Mr. F. R. Atcheson and Miss Mabel Lamb, 24 Apr 1905, Al Iskandariyah, Al Iskandariyah, Egypt. Marriage Notes

Email from John Quinn (john.quinn@ns.sympatico.ca) to Roberta and Richard Sullivan, cc to me dated 28/05/01:
Dear Richard and Roberta Sullivan and Chris,
Thank you very much for all the information that you sent me.Yes, I am the grandson of Mary Louise Prior and William Quintana. I am sorry, but I don't have any information on Catherine's parents,Thanks to LDS I was able to obtain information on the White family. Here is some information on my grandmother Mary Prior. Richard and Matilda (White) Prior retired to Alexandria Egypt when Mary was a young girl. Mary Prior married Willim Quintana and they lived in Alexandria, Egypt. In 1939 the name was changed by deed poll from Quintana to Quinn. They had five children all now deceased. My father, Gerald, John, Vernon (killed in the war), May and Yoland. My great grandfather, John Quintana, lived on the island of Syra, Greece, where he was the British Vice Consul. He was married to Eugenie Rosier. They had fourteen children, all born on the island. Do you have any further information on Richard Prior? I believe he was a sea captain who owned his own ship. Do you know where he was born? Was John White a weathy merchant and shipowner in ferryland? Do you have a gedcom file of the information that you sent me so that I can import it into FTM. Again thanks for everything. Hope to hear from you soon,
Regards, John.

020722:
Note that there is a problem with how this person winds up being included as a member of the same family as Capt. Richard Prior.
I never previously had a sister name Mary for him. And it does appear that the family tree for Bernard Kavanagh has added her as a child of Edward Prior and Esther Williams on the strength of a bapism entry for the RC Basilica that shows a daughter named Mary being the child of Richard BRIEN (or possibly but unlikely BRIER), not PRIOR and his wife Esther Williams. And in fact this record on Ancestry shows Mary as Mary BRIER, not PRIOR.
Based on this, I believed that they had chosen to include this Mary as a child of Edward Prior and Esther Williams based upon a misreading or misinterpretation of this baptism record and that this is not her family at all.
But then I discovered an obituary for Esther , the relift of Capt. Prior, on their website and sure enough it showed that she would be waked at the home of her son-in-law, James Kieley. So it seems that one of the daughters of Capt. Prior and his wife Esther Williams was indeed named Mary and did indeed marry a James Kieley. The error lay in the priest spelling the name of the father incorrectly in the Basilica record because it was a Protestant name and he was not familiar with the spelling.

16/03/03:
In Dad Morry's war memoirs written on August 3, 1957 he writes: "When we came to Suez, it was different. I had an Aunt living there - Mrs. Captain Richard Prior of P&O line. When I asked for a pass to go on shore to see my Aunt, I was brought before the Colonel to make my request. He laughed and said "it's surprising what a number of you chaps have relations here in Suez". Anyway, I got Captain George Carty, a friend of my mother's to tell the Colonel I really had an Aunt there. So my cousin Mont Winsor and I got a twenty-four hour pass and away to go.
We wandered around for hours and then a British Officer directed us to the European quarter. She was delighted to see us. Her daughter Mary was married to the Chief Censor (?) there, a real gentleman named Quintani. As it happened, they had a big party there that night, and Mont and I were ushered into a large room with about 80 guests, all in evening clothes. We felt very uncomfortable, as neither one of us was used to mixing in high society. Especially when we saw the array of knives and forks and spoons beside our plates - and lots of liquor, which we had never seen or known the name of. But they had lots of whisky, and we did very well after a few drinks. When we were leaving in the morning they gave us ten thousand cigarettes. These were very welcome to all the boys as we gave them away to them, as we did not smoke much.
