Simms, Charles (1801-1865) - Son of William and Mary Simms. Stipendiary magistrate at St. John's 1839-1847? and Registrar of the Vice Admiralty Court. Carter indicates in his Journal that he was the Circuit Court judge of the Southern Circuit of the Supreme Court during the Fall Term 1848. Brother of Attorney General James A. Simms and George Simms, a Trepassey magistrate and Clerk the Southern District Court whose daughter Mary Ann married the diarist's son Robert.
