• Census: Exeter College; Clerk (Clerical), 1841, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.

• Graduation: BA, Exeter College, 19 Nov 1843, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.

• Census: Vicar of St. Thomas, 1851, Christow, Devon, England. Census reports that he was married but there is no sign of a wife. I think this is incorrect.

• Election: Voted in Ipswitch Borough election as a resident of Exeter College, 30 Apr 1859, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. His Qualification was shown as M. A. The fact that he was listed amongst the single men at the college seems to support the belief that he never married.

• Property: Sale to James Howe Carter of property by William Walker Wooldcombe from his mother's estate, 19 Aug 1868, Ferryland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. SDC Vol 4 Fol. 440-441 James Carter from Woolcombe Eliza H estate 19-08-1868.

• Alt. Death: After 1901, Leyton, Essex, England.

• Alt. Death: Event Description: No 2 Florence Terrace, Sea Bridge Rd., Cir 1902, Leyton, Essex, England.

Though not born in Newfoundland himself, his will was registered in Newfoundland, perhaps because there were possibilities that his unusual bequest to his housekeeper of all his earthly goods might be challenged by his Newfoundland relatives. It has been transcribed by Sheila Tiberio, Judy Benson & Ivy F. Benoit and is available on the NGB website:
