From Linda Parker Woodward's website:

In Memoriam: Dr. Sterling Glen Parker January 28, 1917-May 20, 2014
We celebrate the 97 years of life of Dr. Sterling Glen Parker. Born in a farmhouse and educated in a one-room schoolhouse, dad kept his modesty all his life. Though he eventually jetted worldwide, he was never a jet setter. Rather, he was a pace setter in medicine, especially in the Midwest. He had been invited to teach clinical medicine at his Alma Mater, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, but he never had time. He was more interested in his patients' rapid ambulation from fractured spines, skulls, skeletons and detecting changes in gait that might mean something malignant occurring within their bones. Few have parents that reach such an advanced age. And few have parents who at 93 consult on their own MRIs for their own spinal surgery. Few have parents who at 95 consult on their own hip replacement surgery with their orthopedists. Above all else, he taught us how to age gracefully, to accept the limitations and weaknesses of the flesh as time went on but also to question them and push on, and to bring love to the center of family life. Dad, they don't make them like you anymore. We will miss you more than we likely ever were able to tell you. We can't really say goodbye because you are with us all the time in the values you taught us by example, and in the genes that keep us walking strong into our own old ages.

From Funeral parlour website:

Dr. Sterling Glen Parker, 97, of The Forum and formerly of Parkway Place in Houston, Texas, died peacefully on the 20th of May, 2014, at Memorial City Medical Center Hospice. Born on the 28th of January in 1917 in Coatesville, Indiana, he married Margery Butler Parker on the 22nd of November, 1939. They resided in Decatur, Illinois, from 1948 when he opened his orthopedics practice until moving to Houston in 1984. Sterling graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1938 and from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1942, completing residency in 1948. He served as a Captain in the US Army during WWII. Dr. Parker was a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, past President of the Illinois Medical Society, and invited fellow of several other academies. His wife of 68 years, Margery Butler Parker, predeceased him on the 28th of April, 2007. Survivors include his four daughters, Linda Woodward, Anne Rose, Nancy Friedman, and Dr. Jane Milan; three son-in-laws, David Rose, Dr. Robert Friedman, and John Milan; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Grandchildren and spouses include: Drs. Larry and Stacey Heit, Adam and Megan Rose, Collin and Lexie Rose, Bryan and Robyn Friedman, Peter and Hannah Kramer, Marc Friedman and Kendra Ortner, Charles and Lauren Yost, Matthew Milan and Megan Milan. At a later date, the family will gather for a private memorial service. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Sterling's name to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Development & Alumni Relations, Arthur J.
