Nimshi Crewe believed that the handwriting on the extremely detailed family tree he referred to as the Baltimore-Kirke-Sweetland-Carter-Morry (or variants thereof) family tree, which he received on loan from Joyce [Dunfield] Angel and copied in 1958, was in fact that of her maiden aunt, Marian Bremner, though he speculated that the information it contained was gathered by Ms. Bremner's great uncle, William Sweetland, the magistrate in Bonavista, who penned a three volume monograph on the history of Newfoundland. Nimshi researched the tree over half a dozen years but was never able to prove the marital link between the Baltimores and the Kirkes nor the two generational link between the Kirkes and the Carters. So it may have all been hearsay or supposition on the part of whoever it was who put it all together.
220616:
Nimshi's conclusion that the manuscript in the version that he saw was the work of Marion Bremner was based upon his recognising her handwriting on a note by her pertaining to an earthenware jug she gave to her niece, Joyce Dunfield Angel. A photostat of this note, along with his typed comments can be found in the MG281 Fonds at The Rooms, as can all the material pertaining to the purported Kirke family tree.

There are three pages of Bremner land transactions, conveyances, mortgages and grants, contained in the collection of such in the Northern District Court Record books at the Registry of Deeds dating from 1843-1887, the large majority of which pertain to this Alexander and the remainder to his sons, primarily Alexander Warren and Robert and several grandchildren. They were deeply involved in land speculation, as well as other forms of business endeavours, such as the association with the fish business of Robert Slade of Poole. From this, most of them, especially Alexander, amassed a considerable fortune for those days, as evidenced by his will.
Because they are not blood relations, I am not bothering to copy these various documents.
