3rd cousin (139 cM over 9 segments on Ancestry). Related through our common ancestor, James Richard Wheeler. Her full maiden name was Brenda Maureen Bruce. She died in 2018. Her daughter is Carol Ann Peterson and she manages her own and her mother's DNA samples on ancestry. She has a very extensive family tree which she opened for me.

Brenda's parents were Russell Kenneth Bruce and Margaret McHugh. Russel was the son of John Charles Harold Bruce and Ethel May Wheeler, the daughter of James William Wheeler and Mary Jane Squires.
