I have selected this particular Alexander Duncan as the most likely candidate to be the biological father of Elizabeth Burton Dalrymple (alias Webster) even though there were half a dozen likely candidates in the surrounding area who all bore that name. The reason I chose him is simple: Elizabeth's middle name is Burton. This name never existed before in the Dalrymple or the Webster lines so far as I can tell. But this particular Alexander Duncan was the son of one Mary Burden. To me, this is too much of a coincidence to ignore. Michelle Monks has chosen not to accept this theory and is using as "her" Alexander Duncan another local man of that name who was born in 1839. She chose him because he was recommended initially by the people from whom she purchased the images of the paternity suit and also because one of her DNA matches (descended from Elizabeth Burton Dalrymple and Alexander Duncan believed that man to be her ancestor. But she too may have been misled by the people who provided the paternity court record so for me this is not solid evidence on which to base the choice.

I am therefore leaving this man and his lineage connected to Elizabeth Burton Dalrymple until better evidence arises to either confirm or refute my choice.
