GIOVANNETTI, DR. HUMBERT ADRIAN (1879-1962).

Physician. Born Port Morien, Nova Scotia. Brother of Louis John Giovannetti qv. Educated Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts, United States. After gradua-tion from Tufts University in 1906 Giovannetti setup pri-vate practice at Bay Bulls on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland. As well, he acted as Justice of the Peace and Stipendiary Magistrate for the Bay Bulls area. He re-mained there until 1913, when he moved to Bell Island and opened a local drug store. From 1926 to 1934 Giov-annetti remained on Bell Island as District Surgeon and Port Doctor.He moved to Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1934 and began a private medical practice there. Giovannetti died at Sydney in 1962. P.M. Giovannetti (letter, Oct. 1982). DPJ

GIOVANNETTI, DR. HUMBERT FRANCIS (1902-1979).

Dentist. Born St. Jacques, Fortune Bay. Son of Dr. Louis John Giovan­netti qv. Educated St. Bonaventure's College, St. John's; St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish; Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. From 1931 Dr. H.F. Giovannetti to 1933 Giovannetti maintained a private dental practice in St. John's. In 1934 he moved to Bell Island,where he practiced dentistry for the next thirty years. In 1963 he was appointed Dental Surgeon at the Waterford Hospital in St. John's. He remained there until he retired in 1974. In 1973 Giovannetti was presented with an honorary membership in the Newfoundland Dental Association and in the mid-1970s was made an honorary alumnus of Dalhousie University. He was also a long-time member of the Newfoundland Knights of Columbus and of the Murray's Pond Country Club. Giovannetti died onAu­gust 4, 1979 at St. John's. P.M. Information from the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador. GIOVANNETTI, DR. JOSEPH LOUIS (1904- )

Physician. Born St. Jacques, Fortune Bay. Son of Louis John Giovannetti qv. Educated St. Bonaventure's College, St. John's; St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia; Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1931, after graduation from Dalhousie University, Giovannetti joined the staff of the Glades Sanatorium in Saint John, New Brunswick as medical resident. From July to November 1933 he was resident physician at Dorchester, New Brunswick. He was appointed Medical Officer for Ferryland, Newfoundland in 1933 and was later appointed to Calvert. He moved to Richibucto, New Brunswick in 1936, where he began a private medical practice. In 1940 he began work as staff physician with the Miramichi General Hospital in Newcastle, New Brunswick but also maintained his practice. He remained with the hospital until his retirement in 1979.
