NEW AD - Deaths (05/23/02) GIOVANNETTI _ Gerald Adrian May 14, 1916 -May 21, 2002 We regret to announce the passing of Gerald A. Giovannetti, DDS, at Foothills Hospital in Calgary on May 21, 2002 at the age of 86 years.Dearly beloved husband of Alex(ina) (nee MacKinnon) Giovannetti, and cherished father of Donald in Holland Landing, ON, David (Lynda) in Dartmouth, NS, Laureen (John) MacKenzie and Jane (Ken) Stothers, both of Calgary, AB. Gerry will also be missed by his nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Giovannetti was born on Bell Island, NF on May 14, 1916, the son of the late Dr. Humbert A. Giovannetti and Dr. Katherine (nee Driscoll) Giovannetti. Gerry is also survived by his twin sister Jean (Don) MacGregor, and by his sister-in-law Jo. He was predeceased by his brother Louis, by sisters, Mary and Delores, by a sister-in-law Kay, and by a daughter-in-law Wendy. Gerry was a graduate of dentistry at McGill University, Montreal, and practised in Sydney, NS for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1979. He was a Past President of the Sydney Kiwanis Club,Past Commodore of the Royal Cape Breton Yacht Club and, for many years, a member of the Sydney Mines Legion Centennial Band. He will be fondly remembered by many family members and friends for his contagious sense of humor, his love of musical performance, and happy times with his sailing buddies. A devoted family man, he and his dear Ina spent the last nine years residing in Calgary. We wish to thank the staff of Foothills Hospital, Units 37 and 61, for their caring, loving support throughout Dad's lengthy illness. Inlieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Parkinson's Societyof Southern Alberta, 480D - 36 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1W4. Following Cremation, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 541 Silvergrove Drive N.W. on Thursday, May 23 at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at the family grave in Nova Scotia.
