Email from Mary Harmon Braun 01/03/01:
I have death certificates and obituary for James H. Harmon. He was born Jan 26, 1859 in Monroe, Ohio Butler Co. He died December 29, 1943. He was 84 yrs 11 mths and 3 days old. He was a retired farmer. It states his father as Thomas Harmon and mother as Ellen Quinlish both of Ireland. The informant was C. C. Rupp. He is buried in Monroe, Ohio, Butler Co. Mound Cemetery. He was a member of Church of Seven Dolores Catholic Church in Monroe.
Here is her posting on Ancestry.com dated 27 January 2000: "My ggrandfather was James Harmon,(1859-1943) married to Sallie (Sarah) QUINLISK (1861-1942). Her mother's name was Anna Fogarty (1836-38 -1920) married to Michael Quinlisk (1833-1914). His father was John Quinlisk. They settled in the Turtlecreek area in Warren Co. Lebanon, Ohio middle 1800's. In 1880 Michael and Anna had children: John, Sarah, Willie, and Elizabeth. 1900's they are still in the same area but only Michael, Anna, Willie and a boarder, Charles Schuyler are living there. James Harmon's father Thomas Harmon married Ellen Qinlisk b.1835? They lived Butler Co. Ohio (1860) - Missouri (1870) -Warren Co. Ohio (1880) - Butler Co. Ohio (1900). I would like any information on the Quinlisk line. I have no solid info before 1880. Please e-mail me at dbraun@in-touch.net"

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 190307: From the above and from the information on the Funeral Arrangements Card provided by Rita Elkins and found in the scrapbook, it seems that there is some doubt as to whether Lawrence and Thomas were sons of James H. Harmon. Neither are mentioned. I believe these were placed here in mistake and are actually James' brother Thomas and his son Lawrence. I have deleted them as sons of James today.

From Rita Elkins 221208: Leo Henry HarmonLeo, 86, of Sedona, AZ, died in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec 22 after declining from a blood disorder (MDS) in the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Steve Elkins. Leo was born May 14, 1922, in Middletown, OH, son of William E. Harmon and Helen R. Gfroerer. He was the third of four sons and one daughter, sole sibling survivor Eve Ruppert of Cincinnati, OH. Leo enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Nov 1942, nine months after marrying Virginia Juanita Mullen. He served as airplane mechanic, mostly repairing B-24s during WWII at RAF Warton air base in England. After the war he was a Western and Southern life insurance salesman until he found the career of his life working at National Lead Company, Fernald, OH. He and his wife raised three daughters, Helen Harmon of Holly Ridge NC, Rita Elkins of Cornville AZ, and Patricia Malunat of Littleton CO. He has eight grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren. Leo retired as Superintendent, Production Control after 32 years, and enjoyed several years of golf, travel and working with stained glass. He lost his wife Juanita to ALS in 1998, after a nine year battle against this terrible disease. Leo married Marilyn Marie Keplinger in 2001. They relocated to Arizona from Ohio and enjoyed traveling and golf, but Marilyn died from lung cancer in 2006. Leo then became a resident of an independent living facility in Sedona and treated himself to a new Mustang Convertible to travel back to Ohio in the summer of 2007. He enjoyed visiting friends and family across the country, and was known for being full of life and as a lively conversationalist. A memorial service celebrating Leo's life will be held at Weigel's Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd, Hamilton OH at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec 29th prior to burial at St. Stephen's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to RTA Hospice, 70 Bell Rock Plaza, Suite A, Sedona AZ 86351, or to a charity of their choice. Condolences made be left for the family at weigelfuneralhome.com.
