181020 from Frank Connors on family Facebook:
When Henry was 18 while hunting in the woods near his community his rifle misfired and in the accident his hand was shot off at the wrist. He was alone badly injured and faced quite a distance ahead of him. Henry pulled his scapulars from his neck and tied them around his wrist with his hand dangling loosely. He used reindeer moss to staunch the flow of blood and credited the scapulars with helping him to get home. Henry lost his hand however continued to hunt long after he retired from fishing at St. John's. He would go off for a week or more and return with a load of rabbits hanging over his back, often carrying a large pot of blueberries. 2444
