Notes by Karen Stevens: "1911 census Grandad is a Baker @ Post Office Denbury. Joined the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry c1911 and was posted to India. Later joined the Indian Army. Retired after serving 33 years as Acting Major. Came home in 1944-5.

Grandad was in the Army in India and came home just before the British left India. When he returned they lived in Devon with his sister Ella and her husband Fred Lake in Paignton only leaving in 1954 when nana's sister-in-law died. Dads heart is in Devon one of the most beautiful places in England have you ever been there?
