General:
050504: I don't know who her parents were. She is listed in the Census as the adopted daughter of Henry Morry and his wife Annie Neville Morry. I suppose she must have been an orphaned niece of Anne or possibly a child of a brother who could not afford to raise all his children.
050320:
Extensive research has only revealed one other Madeline Neville in Newfoundland and she too was found in the 1921 Census living with her family, John J. and Mary Neville. Since she was the eldest female child in a large family, it seems unlikely she would have been adopted out. I do not know either if the father of this family, John J. Neville, and Annie Neville Morry were perhaps brother and sister which could explain their "loaning" Madeline to this family with only one child. But this is a bit far fetched since the stated age and birth date of this other Madeline (February 1903) do not coincide with the Madeline found in the household of Henry and Annie Morry in the 1921 Census.
My suspicion is that the Madeline living with them was illegitimate and the birth was never recorded. She may have been passed from family member to family member until she was finally placed in an orphanage by Henry and Annie. Perhaps she was rebellious and too much for them to handle.
260922:
Note that on her immigration record she gives her relationship to Mrs. Henry Morry as "aunt". I believe this is probably correct. Also, the contact in the US is a "cousin" Mrs. R. Burt but I do not yet know how they are connected.
According to Karen Marie Carlson Kedzuch today:
"From my Grandmothers accounts and photography we have she explained these experiences herself.
Her father's name is Richard not John and Mary was his second wife as his first wife died. She was the only child of this second marriage. She lived on Topsail Rd on a farm when she was a little girl with a pony. pictures affirm this accounting.
Before the Government changed the way records can be aquiired I found the death of Richard, veiwing pictures and obituary which matched what my grandmother remembered. When her mother passed she remembered waiting in the the living area while women cared for her until the Dr. came.
My grandmother's age did not match nor her birthday being celebrated here on the wrong day and when she retired she found she was older by a few years from Social Security.
Several years after later the Farm was to be sold on Topsail and our family had a huge discussion about Annie being the only one who reached out to her over the years. The legal letter was asking permission for her to give up her rights to the farm.
From what I remember my Grandma ( Madeline) gave up her rights. Signed the letter and sent it back.
Through the magic of the internet my Grandma actually showed my kids and family huddled around the a Green Computer screen one Easter the location of the Farm.
She also showed us the park that she went to each Sunday for a picnic while living at the convent (orphanage).
I appreciate your input but my Grandma only spoke kindly of the situation life left her.
Richard had a family and first marriage which passed away. Leaving him with a large family. His second wife, (Mary) also had children and her husband died. They married and had Madeline.
I see that Henry and Annie were quite liked and did well in life. My assumption of why my grandmother went to the convent was that of a person who did not know the facts of Annie & Henry. These were the thoughts I had when my grandma told us how loving and caring both were towards her as a child."

270922:
She is mentioned in a letter to the Regiment as being a step sister of the writer, Anastasia, around 13 years of age and resident in the Belvedere Orphanage. The letter is dated April 7, 1919 so she was not sent to the orphanage by Henry and Annie Morry as previously thought but rather taken from the orphanage to live with them where she was found on the 1921 Census.

I have added a will and approximate date of death to correpsond because it mentions "Topsail Rd.", though in Harbour Main, not St. John's.
There is another Will for a Richard Neville which might equally apply:

Notes
General:
270922:
In his military files there is some discrepancy as to his rank, Sergeant or Corporal. It seems he was courtmartialed for drunkeness on March 8 1917 and lost a stripe just one month before his death.
In his military file there is an attestation by then Lieut. Leo. C. Murphy that he was wounded at the same time as Cpl. Richard Neville on 14 April 1917 and that the latter died at that time. He was also fined £1.
His name appears on his father's gravestone in Belevedere Cemetery.
