Obituary sent by Enid O'Brien on 180508 from the Daily Iberian:

Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Mitchel Dutile,68, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery with Military Graveside services conducted by VFW Post No. 1982 Honor Guard.

Visiting hours will be held today from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dutile died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 7:55 a.m. at LA Extended Care at Lafayette General. Mr. Dutile was a Veteran of the US Navy and retired after 21 years of service. He attended and graduated from USL in 1981 with a Bachelors Degree in Science and Agriculture. After graduating, he became the Sanitarian with the Iberia Parish Health Unit for many years. He truly enjoyed animals and had a special fondness for horses. He was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus and member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the VFW and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Stanford Dutile of New Iberia; daughter, Michelle Dutile and her husband Mitch of Katy, Texas; son, James Dutile and his wife Carla of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Michael, Madison and Mia New and James, Maria, Carlie and Carson Dutile; brothers, Kenneth Dutile and his wife Janet of New Iberia and Russell Dutile of Sulphur and sister, Delores Andre and her husband Ed of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Inez Poirrier Dutile.

Pallbearers will be James Dutile, Mitch New, Michael New, Kenneth Dutile, Russell Dutile, Jeremy Frederick and Kent Goolsby.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Hebert, L.D. Hebert, Malcolm Leleux and Jimmy Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 1303 St. Jude Avenue, New Iberia, LA 70560.
