It is not at all clear that the John and Mary Pollard from Paignton are the same as the John and Mary Pollard who lived in the US at the time of the 1930 census. In fact I am suspicious because they show her being from Northern Ireland. I suspect it was just a coincidence in names and therefore I am showing their daughter and son-in-law as given in the census but nothing on the grandchildren shown.

170112: Susan Murphy (suemurphy@fsmail.net <mailto:suemurphy@fsmail.net> ) is a genealogist interested in the Pollard family of Paignton that appears in my family tree. She contacted me on 160112 to report an error in regard to John Pollard (ca. 1860) and his wife Mary. I had mistakenly used information from a US 1930 Census of people by this name and assumed that they had emigrated and had a child named Minnie. This was not the case as they both died in Paignton and had no children. Susan provided me with the proof of this and I corrected the record accordingly today.

From Susan: Pollard died in 1937 in Paignton Devon. Mary died 1924. John remarried 1925 Paignton Devon. Have hopefully attached a photograph of their grave for your records. Mary's maiden name was Puckey, the same as mine! From 1894 onwards John and Mary had my Gt gt gt Grandfather William Puckey living with them, until his death in 1912. Some probate notes attached for John:- PROBATE: POLLARD, JOHN OF Langstone Dartmouth Road Paignton Devonshire died 6 February 1937 Administration London 5 June to Edith Maud Pollard Widow effects £3095 14s 4d John and Mary had no known issue. John and Edith had no known issue. Edith was a widower at the time of their marriage with children from her former husband. I took the photographs of the grave back in 2009. Will be visiting Paignton again this April.
