• Occupation: Clerk, Civil Servant, Ministery of Pensions, Clifton Down, 1921, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.

• Census: 1939 Register entry for William A. J. Sparks, 14 Gale St., Barking and Dagenham, 1939, Barking, Greater London, England. Note that there was a fourth family member whose entry was blacked out with "This record is officially closed" written over it. It is possible that this was the entry for Mary ("Pat") Sparks and that her entry was obliterated when she became involved in military intelligence during the war.

• Occupation: Civil Servant, Customs and Excise, 1939, London, Greater London, England.

• Residence: 14 Gale St., 1939, Dagenham, Essex, England.

• Residence: 14 Gale St. (also seen as Wale St.), Dec 1945, Becontree, Essex, England. There is no Wale St. It was most likely Gale St.

• Residence: 14 Gale St., 15 Nov 1950, Dagenham, Essex, England.

• Alt. Death: Cir 1957, Wallasey, Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England.

• Probate: 3 Mar 1958, London, Greater London, England.

His gravestone reads in full:

Flying Officer
W. A. Sparks
Pilot
Royal Air Force
11th November 1944 Age 25

In Ever Loving Memory
Of My Beloved Husband Peter
Always In My Heart
Gay And Baby Peter

This inscription gave me more information about him than I had ever learned from his sister, Aunt Pat. It shows his true name (William Angus) as well as his nickname, his full date of death, the Christian name of his wife and it shows that he had a son named after him, none of which I had known previously.
Medical:
Peter was a navigator on a Lancaster bomber and lost his life in a mid air collision and crashed over London towards the end of the war.
