I kept coming across references in Dad Morry's diaries for 1953-1955 that "Pat" was hospitalized on various occasions for varying lengths of time with little information given on the cause so I wrote and asked Paula what she knew about this. Here is reply, given in confidence:
" far as i know, mom had a few miscarriages plus Peter was the only viable baby of twins. I think his twin was delivered dead.... He might know more. Not for publication, but I think mom attempted suicide a few times which would be why Dad Morry would have been reluctant to mention. 090522:
There has been a good deal of confusion over the exact date of their marriage. Marriage records online from the government registers in those days only give the quarter in which the marriage took place and one cannot get an exact date from those sources. I have also shown dates I found in Bruce Camerons's family tree (Nov. 8), though how he would have known the date is a mystery. And I also included a date from Treasured Memories - Then and Now, the Ferryland 2019 Come Home Year Book (November 5) assuming they would have gotten the date from Peter and Paula and that it would have been correct.
However, today I was transcribing Dad Morry's diary for November 1942 and there he states without amplification that Bill married on November 2, 1942. It is possible that he was given that as a possible date in a letter from Bill or Pat and that they had a change of plans. So I don't know whether to take this as the best date or not.
Notes
General:
110807: Enid O'Brien provided a copy of the ship's register from the SS Queen Elizabeth sailing from Southhampton on Dec. 2, 1945, which she downloaded from Ancestry.com. In the record William Morry and his wife Mary M. (Aunt "Pat") are shown as a returning serviceman and his wife. Her age is given as 22 which would mean she was born in about 1923 so I am entering this as her year of birth since I did not have this information previously. Uncle Bill's occupation was shown as Policeman but this was crossed out and British Army inserted. There is also a hand written notation over this entry that says "travelling under official mil. orders." Their last address was given as Becontree, which is a place in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in East London, 11.4 miles (18.3 km) east north-east of Charing Cross. Most of the other men on the same page also appear to be returning servicemen from Newfoundland with their wives and children in some cases so it would appear that they were all grouped together to facilitate repatriation.
