When married lived for a time with Harold's sister Elvie and Reg MORRIS. Later lived with Frank and Lilian SMITH at "Namata" Marmata Road, One Tree Hill, Auckland. Then lived in Bond Street, Grey Lynn during the depression years (1930s), 1934 and 1935 Post Office Directories shows at no. 27( a driver). 1938 Electoral Roll at 27 Bond Street (taxi driver). In 1938 moved to 7 Moira Street, Ponsonby (Casey Estate), Auckland. Their daughter Moya was the first child born in the Casey Estate. 1941 and 1941 directories shows at 7 Moira Street (tram employee). 1947 Electoral at 7 Moira Avenue (motorman). 1961 Electoral roll at 7 Moira Street (Auckland Transport Board Emplyee). In 1971 retired from the Auckland Regional Authority where he had been driving trams and then buses for 35 years. The last 10 years on the "Farmers' run" which was a free bus service to and from the Farmers' department store. Family was still living at 7 Moira Street when he died.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of Perpatual Succour, 84 Kaimarna Avenue, ponsonby. at 11am tomorrow (Tuesday) prior to internment at the Waikumete Cemetery. Rosary at the Chuch 7pm Monday.

CROWLE, JOHN, Tailor, Belmont Road, Paeroa. This business was established in May 1897 and is carried on in a one-storied wooden building, which contains the shop and dwellinghouse. Mr. Crowle was born in 1869, in St. Austell, Cornwall, England, and served his apprenticeshp as a tailor. He settled in New South Wales , in 1892, and was for a time in business in Somerhill, Sydney. In February 1894 he came to Auckland, and after working at his trade for two years he visited California, Colorado, Illinois, Chicago, New York, Liverpool and Cornwall and then returned to Auckland. Mr. Crowle is a Druid, and is attached to the Paeroa Lodge. He was married in 1897, to a daughter of Mr. C Morton, of Thames, and has one daughter.
Shown in the New Zealand Post Office Directory for 1917 at 52 Union Street, Auckland; and in the 1918, 1919, 1920, and 1921 at 1 Union Street. 1938 Electoral Roll at 6B Napier Street, Auckland.
Is he the J CROWLE who is listed as a passenger on the Makura that arrived at Auckland on 19 October 1914 from Vancouver, Canada? Also there is a Mr and Mrs J CROWLE passengers on the R.M.S. Niagara that sailed from Vancouver and arrived in Sydney 27 August 1915.
His brother Harold held a land grant in Canada and when he died about 1940 he left the farm to John with $1,000.
Death notice: CROWLE On June 3 1941 at the residence of his son 6B Napier Street, John husband of the late Emily Crowle, aged 72 years. Funeral from C Little and Sons 249 Hobson Street at 2pm tomorrow (Thursday) for Waikumete Cemetery.
