Notes

080117 from Mary Dooley Maloney:
Solomon Dooley married Anastasia Jordan and they had 4 children. My great grandfather James Bernard and his siblings came to the United States with their mother (Anastasia) in 1869. I think Solomon died and that is why they left but I lack documentation on his death. Solomon is listed in Hutchinson directory of 1864 and is listed as a seaman living in St John,s. He was a deponent in the Supreme Court case of William Tucker in 1856 per The Reports of Newfoundland Supreme Court. In 1834 he and a Garret Dooley ( I think maybe his brother) are listed as captains of a 43 ft schooner named Thetis, owned by a Mr. Langley. It was lost in 1850. No information as to anyone being on it at the time. This is per the 1820-1889 index of Newfoundland captains in the Maritime.

Notes

250310: Her maiden name is very hard to read on the copy of the original register obtained from Scotland's People website. I thought it was Doranne but there is no such name in the lexicon of Irish names. The closest I could come was Dornane, which is actually a misspelling of Dornan. That name is fairly common in Ireland, including the northern counties, though not Donegal.
