Edward Roberts bio from Peter Cashin's memoir "My Fight for Newfoundland":

Fox, Cyril James (1889-1946)
Called to the Newfoundland Bar in 1916, Fox entered the House of
Assembly as a Cashinite Conservative in the 1919 General Election and
was re-elected in St. John's East in 1923 and in 1924 but did not stand for
re-election in 1928. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of
Newfoundland in 1943 and Chair of the National Convention (although
not a Member of it) in September 1946. He died two months later.
Fox married Mary Cashin, PJC's sister and the only daughter of
Michael and Gertrude Cashin. PJC, in this memoir, paid him this tribute:
"Cyril Fox was, to my mind, the most outstanding Speaker this country has
had during the present century. As a matter offact, I have not yet heard his
equal across this great Canadian nation'' (179).
