Mom fell July 29 and really has become frailer and hasn't left apartment since except one day by wheelchair. So she's frail and less able to do things. I think getting to her birthday with Scott and me mattered.
We've had some precious times since I arrived in May. I am very grateful. I plan to be here another few months.

"My collection of Morry info is a mishmash of what Enid gave me, what I got from Jean Funkhauser when she visited here one (long gone) summer, what the newspaper Births, Deaths and Marriages provided and whatI got from the Petty Harbour Registries, and several censuses. I also was lucky to have a 20 year journal, 1832 - 1852, kept by my forebear Robert Carter 3rd of Ferryland, and he recorded a lot of statisticsabout family members. The original Robert Carter to land in Nfld (1722, b in Sidmouth Devon) - 1800, died in Ferryland, had 6 children that I can find. I (nor anyone else I know of) have found no birth certificates, either in Devon or in Nfld., but there were so many fires here in those days with the wooden houses and churches that many files have been lost forever. The six siblings were Ann Carter, William Carter, JoanCarter, Mary Carter, Robert Carter and a little girl Sarah whodied age 10, and her gravestone is still there in Ferryland, at the museum. Robert 2nd is my forebear, and yours is Mary. Their children were first cousins, and mine, Robert 3rd mentions his first cousin, Ann(Saunders) Morry of Caplin Cove, and the two families are very close.
I have stopped actively searching for family tree members, and at 83 have decided I am content with the information I have. This is not tosay I am not still vitally interested, there's a difference! And I would be delighted to have a correspondence and exchange with you. I would think that if you send me a list of the items where we differ, asyou said, I will try to tell you where I got my "fact" from.
I have 19 families in all that I have traced, (incl. Windsor, LeMessurier) some in more depth than others, and some were easier than others. My main focus has been to start AFTER they came to Nfld, and then maybe a generation before, in England, to show their roots. As I saidbefore, I think, I have given my stuff to the Centre for Nfld. Studies at Memorial U., and also a print copy to the N&L Family History Society. The latter, however, is a catch as catch can sort of operation,and I never find anything useful to me in their journal, although I still remain a member in hopes."
