1. *George Mead 2511
       Marriage: 14 May 1850 - St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada 1865

Marriage Events

• Alt. Marriage: After 1849, Ferryland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 030816 from NGB website by Jill Marshall and Kevin Reddigan:

14-May 1850 St. Johns George MEAD, bach, Gillingham, Dorset Margaret RYAN, spin, Ferryland Daniel Cameron, Mary Williams STJB [It appears that George Mead first married Fanny Mayo at Ferryland in 1848. Fanny died a year later, and George married Margaret Ryan, a Roman Catholic. The Ferryland CE records show only a baptism for George and Margaret's first child, James. Other known children were likely baptised as Roman Catholics.]
.

• Witnesses: Daniel Cameron and Mary Williams, 14 May 1850, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Marriage Notes

Event Description: Anglican Cathedral
Children: 1. Living 2. Living 3. James Mead 4. Charles Meade

Notes
General:
301113: I have come to the conclusion that George Mead(e) must have remarried after his first wife, Fanny Mayo died, shortly after they were married and more than likely in childbirth. There are four children shown in this family and, although the dates of birth for two are unknown, two were born after Fanny's death and there was no time between her marriage and death to have had more than one child. Therefore, I am adding another wife named Margaret (surname unknown) to George Mead and making her the mother of the four children.

121223:
I hav found the evidence that George Mead did marry a second time a year after Fanny's death and that this second wife was the mother of his children.
On May 14, 1850, George Mead would remarry to Margaret Ryan of Ferryland. The register shows that he was from Gillingham in Dorset. Although she was a Catholic, they baptised their first child at least in the C of E Church.
