FUGATE, Ruth J. (Wheeler) Ruth J. (Wheeler) Fugate, 84, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Grover C. Fugate, died Sunday, (December 9, 2007) at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford. She was born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, daughter of John Carr Wheeler and Minnie (Bishop) Wheeler. During World War II, she met and married Grover, moving to live in Ohio and Florida and has resided in West Hartford over 45 years. Prior to her retirement, Ruth was employed with the former F.I.A., now known as I.R.I. (Industrial Risk Insurance). She was an antique enthusiast and dealer, having shown at Brimfield, MA and The Cobweb, Canton. Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra L. and Melvin L. Agdish of Newington; her son and daughter-in-law, Grover J. and Andrea Fugate of Warwick, RI; four grandchildren, Mark Agdish and his wife, Beth of Newington, Matthew Agdish and his wife Ericka of Grafton, MA, Amy Fugate and Heather Fugate, both of Warwick, RI; a great-grandson, the light of her life, David Agdish; a sister, Evelyn Morry of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and a very special friend and caregiver, Avis "Jean" Jarrett. Besides her husband, Ruth was predeceased by a brother, Otto Wheeler and a sister, Muriel Wheeler. Funeral services will be private. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183. The Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
