Bridget "Fidelis" Walsh (nee Battcock) - It is with great love that we celebrate the life of our amazing mom, nan, aunt, sister and friend, Bridget "Fidelis" Walsh nee Battcock. She passed peacefully away at home in Bay Bulls on Wednesday, November 9th surrounded by music and song and the love of her family. Waiting for her in Heaven is Dad (Louis Walsh), her twin sons Thomas and Terrence, her brothers Mike (Mary), Leonard (Millie), John, James (Phylis), Tom (Betty), sisters Annie Battcock, Lucy (Richard Melvin), Hannah (Mike Tracey), her nephews, Thomas Battcock, Kenneth O'Brien, Kenny Reardon, Ronnie Walsh, sister-in-law Harriet Condon (Kevin), granddaughter-in-law Riki Elder, brothers-in-law Frank Walsh (Mary), Joe Walsh (Pat), Gerald Walsh, Kevin Walsh (Gen). Left to hold in their hearts forever are daughters Sharon Walsh-White (Tom), Ann Williams (Jerry), Terry Walsh-Oakley (Danny), son Shane Walsh (Chantal), grandchildren whom she cherished, Jason Walsh, Janine Steele (Stephen), Liam Williams (Michelle), Deirdra Johnson (Darcy), Adam Oakley (Amanda), Julie Oakley, great-grandchildren, who lit up her life, Jonathan and James Walsh, Ryan and Kate Steele, Mason Williams, Ivy Johnson, special great-niece Baby Lucy Madeline King, sister Nellie O'Brien, sisters-in-law Helen Battcock, and Bridget Walsh, special nieces and nephews Shirley Allen, Delphine Tracey, Alice Tracey, Michelle Azebuike, Rosemarie Croft, Carolann Barton, Marilyn Power, Judy Clinton, Linda Battcock, Gloria Scott, Katie Battcock, Lisa Hohoff, nephews Kevin Walsh, Sean Walsh, Noel Battcock, Paul Battcock, Randy Battcock, Terry Battcock, Brian O'Brien, Dennis O'Brien, Charlene O'Brien, furry friends Sandoz and Puss Oakley, many cousins and long time friends and companions, especially Joan Costello, Doreen Reardigan, Ann Oakley. Special thanks to Father Ken Walsh and Rev Derrick Bishop for their visits which gave her comfort. Mom started her career as a teacher in Admirals Cove, Southern Shore and that empowered her to move to St. John's to train as a nurse. She graduated in 1953 from the General School of Nursing. Throughout her Nursing career she touched and influenced countless lives with her genuine love, caring and empathy to all. Mom never judged people, she empowered them. She was a trusted advisor to those who reached out for her in troubled times and she gave her love and support willingly. Life was great to our Mom. She enjoyed retirement from the Waterford Hospital, maintained life long friendships and connected so well with everyone. Thank God for new technology as she became a Facebook friend with half the population of Newfoundland and beyond. Facecloth she called it. She used to say "It's better than the party line on the old black phone from decades ago." Her zest for life and her sense of humor, had a profound effect on all whom she touched. Travel was a passion of hers. Cruises and Florida were her favorites. Mom and Dad spent many happy years wintering in Florida. After Dad's passing she still maintained a very active life. It was important to "look good", so nails, pedicures, massages, hair and fashion were part of her daily routine which kept the girls pretty busy. Knitting, accordion and organ playing were paramount, as a matter of fact it ranked up there with the "Young and Restless". Going home to Mom was wherever her family were. Her cabin in Cape Broyle and her garden were the best therapeutic treatments for her. She especially loved the red and white roses. She also made sure pieces of bread were put on the railing so she could see her favorite bird, the Bluejay. They always came. Our Mom's name "Fidelis", means "Faithful". She was faithful to God, her family, and to all who have had the privilege to know her. We know in our hearts that God has placed her as a bright star in His Heaven, to guide us every day until we meet again. Thank you to all who visited Mom to share stories and love during her last weeks. The stories, laughter, songs and memories that were shared with her (and corrected by her!) in recent days uplifted her and gave her the peace she longed for. "Love you to our hearts Mom." Please join with us in celebration of her life. Visitation at Ryan's Funeral Home Bay Bulls, Saturday, November 12th, 2016 2-9 pm and Sunday, November 13th, 2016 2-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, November 14th at 10 am, Immaculate Conception Church Cape Broyle. Inurnment immediately following at Our Lady of the Cape Cemetery Cape Broyle. 248,1815

BERGBAUER (nee Battcock), Christabel Mary - Passed away peacefully in her daughter's home in Larkspur, California February 19, 2023. A mass was celebrated February 24th at St. Patrick's with internment to follow at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Chris, as she was fondly called, was born in St. John's, Newfoundland on August 5th, 1926. Daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Mary Battcock, Chris was the second youngest in a family of eight. She was a sweet child who loved her summers roaming the hills of Brigus South and Cape Broyle. Christabel attended nursing school at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, and after graduation, she moved to the United States to serve as a registered nurse. While working in Honolulu, she met her husband, Capt. Harry William Bergbauer, Jr., and together they travelled extensively - residing in South Africa, England and Italy in support of Harry's esteemed naval career. She raised four children and was the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. After her husband's death in 1991, Christabel spent many wonderful years in San Diego. She was a lifelong and devoted volunteer who was deeply involved with Catholic charity work while also making frequent trips to the Bay Area to share her time and loving energy to support her children's growing families. Christabel will be dearly missed by her children and their spouses; Tammy Vargas, Harry Bergbauer (Debbie Ezersky), Kate Strauss (Ron Strauss), Dee Campbell (Mark Campbell). She was loved and cherished by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Catholic Relief Services. Arrangements under the direction of Adobe Creek Funeral Home, Petaluma, CA 707-789-9000
