It is highly unlikely that he is a part of this family. He is not found in the church registers with James and Hannah. I copied this information from a family tree on Ancestry and it is most likely a mistake.

I now realise that this was part of the speculation of Eldred Chislett in his Newfoundland Ancestor article in Vol. 20, No. 1, 2004. He did not suggest there was any evidence, conclusive or otherwise, to make the link, only that he was of the right age to have been the first son of James and Mary. On what evidence I do not know, but he says that George was born in England, not Heart's Delight, which would of course mesh with his assumption that James and Mary were married in England during one of the winter trips home with the freshly made salt fish before they decided to stay in Newfoundland. George's descendants are known and all lived in St. John's but I am not adding them here because if is too speculative.
