141219:
Teague is the Irish for Timothy. On the 1800 Census for Ferryland and district, there was a Master named Timothy Bryan who had Pierce Scully as "Servant" and the following "Dieters" (men who were engaged for the fishery for two summers and the winter between and had to be fed and housed during that winter, thus Dieters: Mortaugh Bryan, William Bryam, John Bryan, Teague Bryan and Maurice Fitzgerald.
It was the practice in compiling this survey that even the sons of Master who worked with him would be listed as servants or dieters. I therefore believe that the Master shown as Timothy Bryan was in fact this Teague Bryan and that the four Bryans mentioned as Dieters were his sons, Murtaugh, William, John and Teague Jr.
This all remains to be proven of course.
