An enquiry from Ancestry by Enrique Colbert in Spain started me looking into the origins of the Colbert family that were the line of Elizabeth Colbert who married Albert Graham Morry. Information I had from Bruce Cameron and Chris Morry indicated that she was from Nova Scotia and that her parents were as well. But the census record for 1881 tells a different story. There it states that John and Catherine were both of Irish descent but born in NS while John and Edmund were also born in NS but James and Elizabeth were born in the US! Unfortunately, because of their ages, that would never have been recorded on a census in the US because the previous one happened before the years of their birth. Also there are many discrepancies in the names of the children and their places of birth from this census compared to the information Bruce gives.

The family mainly remained living together even after the eldest sons began to work. They were all in good trades and presumably earning a decent living so they could afford to employ a Chinese cook according to the 1901 Census.

I am only guessing at her parentage. I am sure she was the child of one of John and Catherine Colbert's male children because she bears the name of a child of John and Catherine who died as an infant. But I don't know which of their sons was her father. Since I do not have information on wives for the other two sons it is possible they were single and that would leave Edmund as the only possibility.

There is however one other possibility. She may be the wife (albeit much younger) of one of the other two brothers. The strange thing is that she is buried in a plot that is not shared by any of the rest of the family.
