Christian Holmes' notes: "Louis XIX asked James to return to France Emigrated from Geneva to escape further persecution after the revocation of the edict of Nantes. Naturalized in Britain between 1722 and 1723 familysearch gives this date but could be wrong"

The following memorial of the Teissieri family is to be found in
"Broad Street Chapel," London. "In the chancel are the remains
of James Teissier(i) Esq. father of Ludivichi Teissieri, born 1697, di ed 1765.

Also Charlotte Loubiens, his wife, born 1705, died 1776, both native s of
Geneva to which place the parents of the above had retired fro m [ ] in
Languedoc--when the further persecutions of the Protestants occasione d by the
revocation of the Edict of Nantes brought them to England in 1712 --"

"..In memory of his revered and beloved Mother Mary de Teissier of Woo dcot
Park, Surrey, and of his brother Lewis, late a Capt. in H.M. 50th Regi ment of
Foot: and of his sister, Mary, late the wife of Admiral James Prevos t whose
remains are deposited in his vault within this church:
this tablet is here placed by
James, Baron de Teissier of Woodcot Park, Surrey and of this Parish, t he
representative of the descendents of Hugh Teissieri, Grand Prior of Ni ce in
1548 by Gabrielle de Merthier his wife now ....in England; those in Fr ance
being the Barons Teissier de Marguerittes and up to the period of the
revolution "Barons des Etats" of Larguedoc(?)

It is said that he was a friend of King Louis and after establishing h is branch
of the family in England, undertook the maintenance of 6 Roman Catholi c priests
who fled France.
