Mr. Samuel Hill by his Memorial to me setting forth
he had applied to the Governor's Surrogate last year
for Permission to Build and improve an unoccupied
spot of Ground in the Harbour of Ferryland for the
use of the fishery 108 yards NE by N and SE by south
from path leading out to Ferryland Downs towards the head
204 yards NW by W " E by south bounded by Wickers
plantation now in possession of Robert Carter Esq. he
having prayed to secure him in the quiet and peaceable possession
for said purpose I do hereby Give and Grant said Samuel
Hill all the piece of Ground provided same don't
belong to any person or used by the fishing ships since the
year 1765 (for the purpose of erecting House stages flakes wharfs
etc. necessary for the fishery he complying and doing nothing
repugnant to the Act to encourage the trade of the Island
passed in the 10th and 11th year of King William the third strictly
requiring all persons not give Samuel Hill any interruption
whatever in the quiet & peaceable possession as they will answer
to the Contrary Given under my hand and seal in Saint Johns
this 15th of October 1776 - J. Montague
