Notes
General:
150418:

In 2011 I asked Jean Carter Stirling who the Mrs. D. N. MacGillvary was who donated most of the Carter Papers to The Rooms.

This is how she responded:

"Darroch (Doch) MacGillivray, Cdr., RCN, retired, died of Alzeimers, 22 March 2003, age 68, in Halifax. His mother was Doris Alderdice, dau. of Frederick Alderdice, PM of Nfld, and his wife Harriet Carter. Doch was 11 years younger than me. His widow, Marion MacGillivray, still lives in Halifax, we are close friends in spite of how bored she used to get listening to Doch and me "family treeing" (I lived in Halifax for more than 20 years -- for several years, I worked at CBC TV and so did she, me in the control room, but Marion on camera.).
