All other names in that portion of the register now available (1827-1845) are apparently Protestant. This marriage was by license and it may be that it was because it was a mixed marriage.

Finding a marriage for any Catholic in Ireland before 1800 is a virtual impossibility because so few records were kept.

That said, there is a marriage between a William Loughland and Honoria Sullivan which took place in Cork at St. Finbar's on 8 January 1871. But there is too little evidence to support this being the same couple so I am not adding this marriage for them here.

This year, still without any evidence that William McLoughlin and Honoria ? wrere the parents of Catherine McLoughlin, I have begun to compile possible children and grandchildren of this couple based upon the extremely limited information that exist for people of this name, or variants of it, in the Cloughjordan area. In the cemetery transcripts at Modreeny there are only two gravestones shown to exist, one for Michael McLoughlin and one for Dr. Robert HenryMacLoghlin and his brother Edward John MacLoghlin, the latter who actuarlly died in Hamilton, Ontario.In fact, I suspect that those who went by the name MacLoghlin were not of the family of William and Honoria McLoughlin but I have included them here now as being possible members of the family. Perhaps it will be possible to set the record straight as more evidence is found.

I have found and downloaded a RC marriage record for William Loughlan and Honora Sullivan in Cork on Januaary 8, 1791. Although the names are right and the date makes sense, the location is wrong so I have not entered it here for now. I do suspect that all the people named McLouglin or any similar name in North Tipperary did arrive there in the early 1700s as the name is not common in that area.
