My grandmother, Daisy Gwladys Arnold Powdrell is one of the children of Marion and Frederick / Daisy married John Robertson Wood.
My cousin Freda told me that when she was little that grandma Wood often went to the north of Scotland to take care of family.
My grandparents were very religious, no drinking, no bad language, went to church several times a week.

ILLEGAL TRAWLING. CAPTAIN PIRIE (Aberdeen N.) I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether his attention has been called to the case of Frederick Powdrell master of the trawler Pansy who was convicted on the 15th ult by the Sheriff Substitute at Forfar of trawling within the three mile limit and sentenced to pay a fine of £100 the alternative being 60 days imprisonment whether it is a fact that Powdrell being unable to pay the fine applied to the owner of the vessel and was refused assistance what were the reasons which led the Procurator Fiscal of Forfar to refuse the request made to him that he should take action in the matter under Section 10 Sub section 6 of The Sea Fisheries Regulation Act 1895 which expressly meets such a case as this by providing that failing payment by a certain date of the fine imposed decree therefor may be pronounced against the owner of the offending vessel the master of the vessel being thus relieved and whether steps will be taken to secure that in this and in future similar cases the above sub section will be enforced as likely to be a stronger deterrent to breaking the law
THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr GRAHAM MURRAY, Buteshire) I have inquired into the facts of this case which are stated with substantial correctness in the first two paragraphs. I am of opinion that Section 10 Sub section 6 of The Sea Fisheries Regulation Act 1895 quoted in the third paragraph of the question does not apply to a conviction such as the present which was obtained under the Fisheries Act of 1889. The point has not been decided by the Court and my opinion upon the matter is therefore not conclusive. I feel bound however to add that assuming the prosecutor had had the discretion which I think he had not inasmuch as this was a very clear and persistent violation of the three mile limit and that Powdrell had been twice previously convicted of illegal trawling and twice of other breaches of the Fisheries Laws, it was not a case where, with due regard of the interests of line fishermen, any relief ought to have been granted.• Occupation: Master of the Trawler PANSY, 15 Jun 1896, Forfar, Angus, Scotland.
• Residence: Grey's Buildings, 13 Gallowgate, Jun 1898, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland.
• Residence: 29 Urquart Rd., 4 Oct 1899, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland.
• Census: Vessel Census for Scotland, Master of NORTH WIND, 1901, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. The North Wind was a fishing trawler.
• Residence: Nelson Street, 1902, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. (Occupant)
• Court: Frederick Powdrell Charged with Assault on his wife Marion Logie Minty, 26 Nov 1902, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. Marion Logie Minty pursued her husband through the streets of Aberdeen seeking the £1 per week he gave her regularly for care of their 7 children. He had left her some weeks before because of her drinking and the fact that she often pawned the clothes he had bought for their children. He was living alone in Shiprow when not at sea but was often in the company of other women there. She said that he struck her and drew blood from her mouth but he said he merely pushed her away as she continued to pursue him. The judge believed him over her but charge him with a fine of 10 Shillings or failing payment 5 days in jail.
• Court: Marion Logie Minty charged with abuse of her simple-minded son, John William Powdrell, 13 Jan 1903, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. (Party)
• Court: Case of assault with a deadly weapon against Frederick Powderell, 22 May 1905, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. Frederick Powderell was accused of stabbing his estranged partner who had left him and another woman while all three were drunk.
• Residence: 17 Wales St., Nov-Dec 1910, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland.
• Court: Sentenced to Craiginches Prison, 17 Nov 1910 to 24 Dec 1910, Nigg, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, United Kingdom.
• Court: Violations of Fishing Laws, 31 Mar 1911, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. Frederick Powdrell, Skipper of the trawler Sunshine of Aberdeen, not only broke the fishing laws (again!) by fishing in an excluded zone in the Moray Firth, but defied the authority of the fishing patrol vessel Norma (Capt. Wright) and attempted to escape.
There were 12 previous convictions of this kind from 1889 to 1910 with fines totalling £730.
On the charge of illegal fishing he was fined £100 because of all his previous convictions of this nature in default of which he would have to serve 60 days in prison. On the charge of defying the authority, he was charge a further £30 or an additional 60 days in jail. Being unable to make this payment immediately and the Sherrif being unwilling to grant an extension, he was sent to jail immediately.• Occupation: Master of the SUNSHINE, 31 Mar 1911, Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland.

Notes
General:
220910: This is the man after whom Mom Morry was named. He was her uncle, or rather the husband of her aunt Marion, and she was given as her full name a combination of theirs: Marion Frederick Powderell Minty. The spelling of his surname and hence her middle name varies tremendously in the various documents seen.
According to many court documents online he was a fishing captain who was constantly running afoul of the law, fishing in areas where he was not licensed or for species for which he had no license. Surprising therefore that James and Mary Minty would think to honour them by naming their daughter after him!

Having ordered and received a copy of the prison entry from Scottish Inexes, it shows that he did indeed serve at least part of his prison term at Craiginches Prison from Nov. 17 1910 until Dec 24 1910. After this entry there is the code FPP which seems to be related to why he was released after such a short stay but it is not explained. The record also indicates that he had three prior prison sentences.
