Paul Cohen writes this about his sourcing on the information he has on this family:

"Well, that whole family of Stephen Reid and Elizabeth Pinhorn was researched by Sarah Verge Reid, the 93 year old lady who is the mother of my school friend and cousin Grace Reid. Sarah grew up in Winterton, and married Max Reid of Heart's Delight of the Stephen and Elizabeth line. Sarah has binders of research she has been doing since the 40s, on the Reids, Hobbs, Verge and Sooley lines. Much of what she has is from local sources .... family bibles and personal records and that has been aided by parish records etc. She had many fine contacts, most of whome have died now, and lots of people researched births and marriages for her as a favour. It was she who gave me the all the data on the George Reid family and most of the relationships of the people who married into their line. So that is where the Sarah Welsh family data comes from. Now I got all that from her over the phone, trying to write as fast as she could talk, and maybe I made a mistake and thought Absalom was Sarah father when she meant her son. We will never know because I would not call Mrs. Reid to inquire about that. She has lost interest in her genealogy in the last year or so after her youngest daughter died, and I have been reluctant to ask many more questions of her since."

070413: Almost everything I had on this man from Mom was incorrect. His name was William, not Frank, and he was born in Montreal. They were also married there, not in St. John's, and moved there prior to being married.

It appears that Frank Reid was most likely the brother of William since he witnessed their marriage. But is it also possible that he and Maud were married after the death of William?
