I was not aware of the existence of this person until the birth records of St. Thomas were posted on the Nfld. Gen Web website. Mom did not remember him as being a sibling of her father. It would appear to have been either a miscarriage or stillbirth because the date of birth and baptism are the same as the date of death given in the family bible.

RIDGWAY (Naugle) (Wheeler), Hilda May Viola "Maryanne" RIDGWAY (Naugle) (Wheeler), Hilda May Viola "Maryanne" - 1925-2008. It is with sadness of heart that I announce the quiet passing of my mother, Hilda, on Monday, April 21, 2008. Hilda, a daughter of her late, beloved parents, Herbert and Viola (Cleveland) Wheeler (Halifax), is survived by her daughter, Judith (Trevor) Goff, Lower Queensbury, N.B.; grandchildren, Tamara Goff, Moncton, N.B.; Ryan Goff, Toronto, Ont.; Paul Ridgway, Pictou, and Phil Ridgway, of Doha, Qatar. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Wheeler, Halifax; sisters, Laura Donohue, London, Ont.; Helen Wheeler, Halifax; special niece, Lesley Courtnell, Portsmouth, England, as well as many other cherished nieces and nephews; close cousins, Lily Snow and Marion Zinck, and great great-nephew, Brenton Fairn, Halifax. Hilda was predeceased by her beloved children, son, David; daughter, Anne; infant son, John (at birth); her first husband, Frederick; second husband, Robert Naugle, as well as brothers, John, Ernest and Frederick Wheeler, and sisters, Grace (Davis) (Poole), Winnie (Flewelling), Pearl (Nelson), Maude and Ella May Wheeler. Hilda was employed with the Federal Government (Maritime Command) at HMC Dockyard in Halifax, reluctantly retiring in 1990 after 25 happy years. Hilda loved her family, cooking and gardening, and being with her family and friends. A faithful lifelong member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, she was involved with the Hot Meals Programme, and Sidepersons Group. Formerly, she had been actively involved with the Girl Guide and Brownie Movement at Emmanuel Church, Spryfield, St. Matthias and St. Paul's churches, Halifax. She so enjoyed being a member of the Ladies Guild of St. Paul's and the Chester Ladies Legion, the Order of the Eastern Star, Shoreham, Chester, and the Seasiders' Seniors of Blandford. She was also a member of the Federated Superannuates National Association and the Independent Order of Oddfellows (OOFMU), in which she was so interested but unable to attend in later years because of the distance. Hilda was also an avid member of ACTS (Association of Communicators and Technicians Society, former members of Maritime Command). There will be no viewing at Hilda's request. Flowers and donations to St. Paul's Church will be lovingly accepted. A memorial service and small reception was held in St. Paul's Church on Thursday, May 15.
