There are two very close birth/baptism records, the one from Dvid Stevens saying he was born in Kildare and one I found on FMP saying it was Carlow. I don't know if David has any additional supporting information for his birth record or if he just took a stab in the dark so I will leave both for now.

Notes from David Stevens:

Arrived in New South Wales 19 February 1848 on the "Hyderabad" (age 26) with her husband William and 2 children from Kilbeg, Tipperary (she had possibly lived in Summerhill).

Of Merendee when she remarried.

In later years Julia lived with her son James and his family in Tallawang, initially in the same house although later seperate quarters were constructed for Julia away from the main house.

Death certificate confirms names of parents as Thomas WHELAN and Catherine McLAUGHLAN.
