Mary Ann Baker "Mame" married to James Stanford was dgt of John Baker (7/1866-9/6/1934) from St. John's and Bridget Lundrigan (1/1864-15/11/1938) from Witless Bay. John was a cab man and lived on George Street when they were married but moved to Brennan Lane so he could have a facility to keep his carriage. His mother bought him a horse so he wouldn't go to sea and they moved to Southside Road West where he had large fields and stables for horses he boarded and grazed for a number of major firms in St. John's - no cars in those days.
