Notes for JOHN BARNABLE from Don Lopes' website believed to be written by Dorothy [Barnable] Agriesti:
Mom's Note: When Joe's Nancy was born, Dad said she wasn't the first Nancy Barnable as he had an uncle who married a woman named Nancy. He didn't mean his brother Jack. Some say that "old Jimmy Barnable" was Grandad's brother. I think not
We understand John to have gone "away" as well and to have married a woman named Nancy. It is not believed they had a family. There was a John Barnable, a crew member of the Helen G. Wells who managed to upright the vessel after she had capsized in a storm while fishing out of Glouchester in 1897. He was from Ferryland but we are not sure where he places. lhere are a few John Barnables that were too young at that time and one who would be too old. Perhaps Rich also had a brother John as well as our grandfather, Matthew
1871 listed as fisherman in Ferryland

Note that the next three generations of this family were taken largely from Don Lopes' website family tree and are not to be believed. His family tree was taken from those of others without any verification and consequently contains numerous errors including entire generations left out. If this was a line to which I had a closer association I would correct these errors but as it stands I am simply making note of the obvious glaring errors in much of this information.

151119 from a posting by Steve Barnable on Facebook:
Sad story. He kept losing artificial legs. One soaked in a boat in Ferryland, the other crushed while working as a longshoreman in St. John's where he lived. He was found dead in his room by about 32, living with a lot of pain. Both daughters died young, one hit by a truck downtown. His widow married a Williams and had further children, one of which became a teacher who I met and he told me about his connection to Jack.
