These are usually found in the December issue of the Daily News. The next time I go to the university I will look it up just to see if there is anything further. It is kind of interesting that Isabel LeMessurier will be with her at the Front. NOVEMBER (1915) Nov. 4 Misses Frances MOREY, Madeline DONNELLY, Isabel LeMESSURIER, Cecile WINDELER and Annie WORSLEY leave on Nursing Duty for the Front.
Talk to you later. Enid

On her British Medal card downloaded today from the National Archives website her name is given as Isabel A. Le Messurier. On balance, however, I believe it was really spelled Isabelle. She was a member of the Volunteer Aid Detachment (VAD) which means that she was not qualified as a nursing sister.
In "Your Daughter Fanny: War Letters of Frances Cluett, VAD" edited by Bill Rompkey and Bert Riggs and published by Flanker Press in 2006, Frances Cluett mentions Isabel(le) in a letter written to her sister Lil from London dated Dec. 5, 1916:
"For once I saw Miss Janes had gone and Miss Bartlett had made a date for this evening with Mr. Janes: but Miss LeMessurier, a friend of Miss Gallishaws [sic] who came to day, took the second ticket [to the theatre]. I wish she had not come, for then Miss Gallishaw and I would have gone. Miss LeMessurier [footnote by the editors says "Likely Isabel LeMessurier"] from St. John's has been over here nursing for quite a while. She had two weeks leave off, so spent one week down at some wealthy family's.There are only just a few of them in [the] family; but they keep eleven girls; so you can imagine what kind of a house it was."
There seems to have been more than a little animosity underlying this revelation, both in regard to Isabel taking her place at the theatre, as well as her closeness to Frances' friend, Miss Gallishaw, and possibly a little resentment that Isabel had access to a nice place to visit with wealthy friends. Frances had no such escape in Britain. Unfortunately she gives no insight into the name of the family with whom Isabel had been staying. It is also noteworthy that she should be so jealous of Isabelle considering that the latter was on leave having already served overseas in terrible conditions that Fanny had yet to experience.

Note that it is not certain the marriage took place in the Cathedral simply because it was recorded there. Many marriages took place at St. Thomas and were recorded in the register of that church but also in the Cathedral register. Unless the register entry stipulates I tend to assume that most marriages took place at St. Thomas. In particular, in 1846 and for many years afterward, St. Thomas served in lieu of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist because it was destroyed in the great fire that year.
