Paul Kirby showed him married to Mary Ann Williams but the Anglican Cathedral records are clear that a Marianne Williams married a Lieut Richard Vicars in the Royal Artillery. I suspect that Paul got it mixed up and that these two are brothers married to closely related women.

It is mentioned in an article this month in the Newfoundland Quarterly by James P. Feehan that Richard Vicars was a Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers at the time of his marriage but later rose to the rank of Captain so I am changing his title based on this information.
