The court documents do not bear the date of testimony but according to the order in which they appear in the court records it was given some time in 1851.
In this testimony we learn that Hirzel was a trader in Burin as early as 1818.

From court testimony in around 1851 he signs his name as Hirzel Le Messurier so I am correcting the earlier spelling of Hirzil found on Clive Le Messurier website and others on MyHeritage which no doubt copied his information.

Cyril Vincent Le Mesurier's son C.R. (Craig) Le Messurier prepared a family history and tree sometime in the 1980s which is on file at The Rooms as MG 929.120 among the family history series. I had seen it before this year and even photographed several pages previously but wound up doing the same thing again this year because the information had not been recorded in my family tree the last time I did so. I intend to make sure that this is rectified now.
Here is part of what Craig had to say about this person:
(DOB Jan 02, 1920)
Howard, son of Herbert Long and Ada May Fogwell, was a German POW during WWII, held in Stalag VIIA in Black Forest, Freising, Germany. As of 1981 his address was 1645 de Maissoneuve Blvd. West, Apt. # 605, Montréal, PQ. As far as it is known he did not marry. He worked as Clerk for the City of Montréal.
