Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are either hand-written copies or in later years typed copies of a, "last will and testament," written or typed by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation and also no paragraphs. The originals were kept by the executor.
We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be. However, in some of the very long wills, we have tried to insert paragraphs to make it easier for the researcher to read the document.

I have just seen your page and realized that the LeMessurier line you are a part of is the same (albeit remotely) that I am associated with from my Morry forebearers in Newfoundland. I am just putting together the bits and pieces of what little I know and have uploaded that information to the Family Tree Maker site today. I have no idea how to getat that information as I have only started to use this software.
Please correspond with me by e-mail and we can see what more we can contribute to each others'searches.

2. Chris Morry From:Chris Morry [chris.morry@sympatico.ca] Sent: February 9, 1999 10:15 PM To:'Okatoks@aol.com' Subject: RE: LeMesurier/Morry connection in Newfoundland Dear Clive:
I guess what I would like to establish at the outset is if there were ties between the Morry and LeMesurier lines in Europe before emigrating to North America or if they are linked only here in North America. Also, since I am only familiar with the line of LeMesuriers that wound up in Newfoundland, I am wondering if they were in any way associated with the Morrys that wound up emigrating to the US about the same time my closer relatives came to Newfoundland (late 1700s). I don't even know for sure if the Morrys who emigrated to the US in the 1700s were related, though the name is so rare I suspect they must have been. They also used many Christian names commonly used in my lineage (e.g. Thomas, Henry, John). Of course these were all common English names of the day so that doesn't prove anything.
The Morrys who emigrated to Newfoundland were from Dartmouth but there is a strong family tradition that they moved there from the Channel Islands. I have no proof of this and wondered if the LeMesurier linkage could provide a clue in that direction.
It so happens that by curious coincidence, the Newfoundland LeMesuriers wound up being linked by marriage to both my parental lines. The Morry's of course were associated with the LeMesuriers through several marriages in the 1700s and 1800s. In this century, my mother's brother (a Wheeler) married a Norris, one of whose sisters married a George LeMesurier in Newfoundland (George being a common Christian name in the line I believe). Their children are named Peter, Marie and Anne, all common LeMesurier names too.
As I indicated in my first email, I am a novice at both genealogy andat using the Family Tree Maker program. But I understand that you could send me a copy of your Family Tree electronically and I could explore it in the program. Would you be willing to do this? If so, I will send you copies of my expanding family tree as I add more to it.
Any other advice you can offer on how to research the family tree in England, where there are apparently no Morry's left anymore, would be most appreciated.
Thanks for responding

I would be happy to send you a download of my tree, it is for everyone that has a connection to the LeMessurier's. First this may help, log on to the Internet and then minimize the screen, then start family tree maker. When FTM has started, click on the button at the top that says online, this will get you to the family tree maker homepage. From there go to the line that says home pages and then scroll down until it asks you what you would like to do with your home page, there are a few options but click on the one that says to add a family tree, make sure when you have started familytreemaker you have it showing generations. I fall this fails you may call me and I will walk you through it. My number is 1-307-245-9411 There are a couple of Morry's on the tree but not very good info on them. In the 1920 Census we find he and his wife, son John and a granddaughter, Violet F. (born in Pennsylvania ca 1909) living together in San Pedro. I am not sure who this granddaughter is. They did one granddaughter named Violet but her second initial was M for May and she was the daughter of Francis Le Messurier by his first wife and was presumably born long before that date. It is possible this is she and the census taker got both her middle initial and age wrong. But if so, I had no idea she was born in Pennsylvania.

Apparently Capt. Butler was also a bit of an entertainer according to Richard Cramm because he sang at the Blue Puttee Reunion held at Smithville, St. John's on November 18, 1920. Amongst others in attendance was Lieut. Philip Sorsoleil Le Messurier.

In 2018-2019 The Rooms made available some new record listings online, one of which was the Philip Sorsoleil Collection - MG 108 1917. Apparently the donor, L. Patey, found these two manuscripts in a dumpster and donated them to The Rooms in Sept. 2014. They pertain to his military training in 2017. 1529
