HI Chris
One more bit to add on this. When I was at the church office today, I found the burial register for 1978 and it lists Catherine Williamena McCoubrey age 81, date of death March 1, 1978, date of burial March 3, 1978 at Royal Oak so she is likely buried with her husband there - not sure why she didn't show as listed when you looked before.

Of interest on opposite page of the burial register is an Arthur Hunter Bradshaw who died on October 18, 1978 and was buried October 24, 1978 at Royal Oak. I guess not likely a connection to Sarah Bradshaw and her family unless her son, Will, had a son by this name.

Cheers
Barb

191213:

This couple is included in the family tree file, even though it cannot be connected directly to the family at this time because of the name of one of the two witnesses to the wedding: Mary Graham & Elizabeth Menay. If this is the same Mary Graham who soon after married Matthew Morry, and it seems very likely that it is, there is a chance that she is related to the bride or groom, though i have no idea at this time what form of relationship that might entail.

010317:
In aunt Jean's notes sent to me by Karen in 2002, I came upon some pages Karen had personally copied from a book according to her marginal notes. I assume she was in Britain at either the National Archives or the Devon Archives in Exeter. These pages record the successful application made on behalf of Mary Graham, widow of Christopher Graham, for a pension from Trinity House. These pensions were evidently intended for mariners widows and families left destitute by their death at sea. That said, whilst the petition was submitted in 1810, it was not approved by the board, which included members by the name of Robert Holdsworth and William Newman and two others not so obviously associated with the Newfoundland trade, William Drake and ???. The petition notes that Christopher Graham was the "Master on board the ST. GEORGE sailing from Dartmouth to Newfoundland and abroad. Left 5 Children." It seems odd that she would have waited so long after his death to apply for a pension and even odder that his five children should have been taken into account as a just cause for granting a pension given that they were all adults by 1815. Curiously, his days as the Master of the ST. GEORGE were long since past by then, having taken place in the early 1770s.

Apparently Mary removed a few years from her age and reported she was 62 when she applied for the pension. According to her gravestone, she would have been 65.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
240818:

Note that there is a discrepancy in determining her birth year from the gravestone, which claims she was 80 at the time of her death, and the burial record in the church register, which says that she was 79. It is possible that the two could indicate the same year (e.g. 1745) one being early in that year and one being later the same year. There has been no baptismal record found so far.
